This pair of model 269 armchairs was designed by Jindřich Halabala in the 1930s and has been fully restored. The bentwood frames are finished with a smooth satin lacquer that highlights the natural grain of the wood. The new upholstery features a soft, textured fabric with a subtle woven pattern. Its blend of viscose, linen, and cotton gives the chairs a refined, natural look and a pleasant tactile quality.
Jindřich Halabala was a leading figure in Czechoslovak modernist design and a key designer at the iconic furniture manufacturer UP Závody during the 1930s. He believed that good design should be both functional and accessible, and his work helped shape the look of Central European interiors during the interwar period. The model 269 is one of his most recognized designs—known for its flowing, curved armrests and balanced proportions.
